The Band of Brothers Team

Tim Harrison

My wife, Michelle and I are raising three boys: Joshua, Jacob and Jonathan. I'm blessed to shepherd the group of people who make up CrossPoint Church in Ellijay, GA, and I have the privilege of leading with my band of brothers. These guys walked with me to freedom from the lies I had come to believe about myself, step by step along the journey I've traveled to get back my heart, and continue to fight with me and for me. Reading Wild at Heart kick started my journey towards freedom. The Band of Brothers Weekend is the realization of a dream to provide an opportunity for men to "take their question to God" like I had at my first Wild at Heart Boot Camp in Colorado several years ago. What makes me come alive the most is joining Jesus Christ in His mission to "bind up the brokenhearted and set the captive free," but my other passions include wrestling with my boys, camping, running, and a little tae kwon do.

The men who landed behind enemy lines or hit the beaches of Normandy on D-day experienced things which were seared into their memories. Today, for them, the feelings and images remain as clear and fresh as they were 64 years ago. We were born into a world of spiritual warfare, and we carry the wounds of all we have seen, heard, and felt. God, Father, has pursued my heart hard to bring healing and restoration. I desire to see men, women, couples walk in the freedom for which Christ has set us free. Father has blessed me with a wife, Julie, who for twenty five years has stuck to me. In 2001 Julie enticed me into reading a book written by a man who,"writes like you think," she said. My life has been radically changed, thank God. The book is, "A Journey of Desire", authored by John Eldredge. Father has taken me, Julie, and our five children, Hannah, Courtney, Josiah, Samuel, and Lydia on a great journey. I look forward to the next step. I enjoy sports, out- door activities, reading fantasy and WWII history. I love a good cup of coffee. I am proud to say I served in the United States Coast Guard. Semper Paratus!

"The journey is the destination." I recently saw this on a t-shirt down at Atlanta Fest 2008. If it is true, then I have arrived...we all have. My journey has been filled with as much frustration as jubilation. Each turn in the road brings new life as well as new challenges. It has been a fight for freedom...freedom from the tyranny of significance...freedom from the slavery of mediocrity...freedom from the stranglehold of religion...freedom from me. As I have battled and continue to do so, it has been the greatest honor to do so with my band of brothers. Through it all I couldn't ask for a better spouse than my wife Aly who has gotten out of the way to let our Father do His work. (Perhaps our four children have kept her busy.) I love talking about all sports. Playing basketball and attempting golf would be my activities of choice. And get this...I love to study!
